The man who measures the clouds // by Jan Fabre

The man who measures the clouds (1998) by Jan Fabre depicts a human figure standing on a small stepladder, measuring the clouds with a ruler. For Fabre, he symbolizes that which an artist does: balancing on the border between the possible and impossible. The statue is perched on the edge of De Singel’s roof in Antwerp.

Antwerp Tall Ships Race 2010

From July 10th to July 13th, around 650,000 people turned up to visit the majestic sailing ships of the Tall Ships Races. At the impressive ‘parade of sail’ on Tuesday afternoon, crowds of tens of thousands of people lined the Scheldt, stretching well out of the city of Antwerp, in order to wave the tall ships off.
